In 1999, Rohit was enrolled by his uncle in a cricket camp. Dineh Lad, coach at the camp, suggested he join Vivekanand International School, Mumbai, due to its better cricket facilities. He performed his best in the school cricket competitions & also scored a century as an opener in his debut game.
