On the 4th day of the Second Test Match in a series against Bangladesh in Kanpur, Kohli achieved this record in 594 innings. 

Sachin Tendulkar, the title holder of this feat before Kohli, was surpassed by the latter.   Tendulkar completed his 27,000 international runs in 623 innings. Virat Kohli with achieving this record created another to collect this many runs below 600 innings.

• Ricky Ponting from Australia.
