Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: Full Schedule, Match Dates, Groups, Squads and Venues

ICC (International Cricket Council) recently announced the updated schedule for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will begin on the 3rd of October in the United Arab Emirates. This tournament was previously set in Bangladesh but the venue was shifted by ICC from there to the other country as many players & teams shared security concerns due to the current political issues.

ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 Fixtures 

On 26th August, the International Cricket Council announced the changed schedule for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament will start on 3rd October and its final match is scheduled on 20th October this year. 

How many matches will be played and where?

A total of 10 teams will partake in this event and 23 matches will be played throughout this tournament. These matches will include 3 knockout games and will be played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai and Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah.

Teams are divided into how many groups?

The 10 teams were divided into 2 groups consisting of 5 teams in each group. 

• In Group A, the defending champions of this tournament Australia, are kept with Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and India.
• In Group B, South Africa, West Indies, Bangladesh, Scotland and England are kept together. 

How many matches will each team play in this tournament?

Each squad will play 4 group games in this tournament and the top 2 teams from each group will progress to the semi-final stage. The semi-final matches of this tournament are scheduled for the 17th and 18th October & the final game will take place on 20th October in Dubai. 

For both semi-final and final games, a reserve day is fixed. If India can make it to the semi-final, they will play the first semi-final in Dubai and the second in Sharjah, whereas the final will be hosted in Dubai. 

Which teams reached directly in this tournament?

8 teams including Pakistan and India got direct entry in this Women’s cricket tournament. Scotland and Sri Lanka qualified for the event through the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament scheduled earlier this year in Abu Dhabi.
