Jasmine Lamboriya is recruited by the Indian Army on the Havildar Post. She is a Bronze Medalist in 60 Kg Boxing. She has won this medal in the CommonWealth Games 2022.

Who is Jasmine Lamboria?

  • Jasmine Lamboria(August 30th, 2001 Born in Haryana) is a well-known Indian Boxer who recently got famous due to her achievement of winning a Bronze medal in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022. She has won this medal in the light-weight category. She has performed extremely well in the World Boxing Championships. 
  • Lamboria is a Lovely Professional University student, who became the first female boxer to become a part of the Indian Army. She is approved for the Corps of Military Police's Recruit Havildar program.. Male Indian boxers like- Amit panghal, Mohammad Hussamuddin and Manish Kaushik have already privileged the Indian Army with their service.

Who Inspired Jasmine Lamboria ?

Parvinder and Sandeep, previous National Champions and the Uncles of Lamboria have been an inspiration for her to take up boxing as a career and show her skills in this game. Her uncles are already representing India at International stages.

 

Jasmine Lamboria won medals in the Women's World Boxing Championship, the Women's National Boxing Championship, Khelo India Youth Games 2020, and the ASBC Elite Asian Boxing Championship.

Jasmine thanked Lovely Professional university and the coaches who supported her providing the best of the facilities. She said: “LPU supported us a lot. Here, the coaches train us very well and the training facility is amazing too. I have received scholarships too, and I train here free off cost. Not only me, all the sports persons here, no matter what sport they are in, they all have the best facilities here at LPU,

The LPU family also wished her the best for her future with the Indian Army and paid salute to her service to the nation.

What does the Indian Army say about Jasmine?

The Indian Army believed that Haryana boxers have already glorified the Indian army. The Army shared in a statement: "Indian Army recently recruited a very talented boxer and CWG 2022 Bronze medallist (60 Kgs) Ms Jasmine Lamboriya in its ranks as a Recruit Havildar in the Corps of Military Police,".

Lamboria will start training under the Army’s “Mission Olympics” program. This has produced champions like Avinash Sable and Neeraj Chopra. She has been recruited as havildar in the Indian Army under the similar program. The Army has created various ‘Mission Olympics Wings’ under this program and various relevant facilities are provided to the recruits. Subedar Avinash Sable, Subedar Neeraj Chopra, Hav. Achinta and Naib Subedar Jeremy are some noteworthy athletes nurtured under Mission Olympics Wing.
