On 9th July (Tuesday), Pushkar Singh, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, paid respect to the remaining mortals of the 5 soldiers of Uttarakhand Garhwal who were killed in an ambush by the terrorists on 8th July (Monday), 2024. This attack occurred when an Indian Army Convoy was patrolling in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir.

Who were the 5 soldiers killed in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir?
The five soldiers who were killed in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir in ambush by terrorists were:
- Naib Subedar Anand Singh Rawat from Rudraprayag (41 Years of Age)
- Rifleman Anuj Negi from Pauri Garhwal District (25 Years of Age)
- Havildar Kamal Singh Rawat from Pauri Garhwal District (28 Years in Age)
- Rifleman Adarsh Negi from Tehri Garhwal District (26 Years in Age)
- Naik Vinod Singh Bhandari from Tehri Garhwal District (33 Years in Age)
On July 9th (Tuesday), their mortal remains reached Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun. A wreath-laying ceremony was held to pay tribute to these soldiers along with the traditional military honors.
Many ministers with Army officers took part in this ceremony. Some of them were -

- Ganesh Joshi (Cabinet Ministers)

Pushkar Singh Dhami on Kathua Attack
Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, stated:
"It was a cowardly act. The entire nation and the state stand in solidarity with the grieving families. Their supreme sacrifice won't go to waste. Those involved in this dastardly act will not be spared, nor those who provided shelter to the terrorists. The govt will provide every possible support to the families of the fallen heroes."
Not only the CM but Lt Col Manish Shrivastava, the Public Relations Officer Defence, Dehradun, also stated:
"Of the five soldiers who died, the mortal remains of Naik Bhandari were handed over to his family members, who performed his last rites in Dehradun. The bodies of the two soldiers from Pauri Garhwal were airlifted to Kotdwar city in a chopper and will be transported to their native villages by road for the final rites."
He also added:
"Due to unfavourable weather conditions on Tuesday, the bodies of the two soldiers from Tehri Garhwal will be airlifted to Srinagar in Pauri Garhwal on Wednesday morning. From there, they will be taken to their respective villages by road for cremation with full military honours."
