Manish Sisodia and Raghav Chadha, the leaders of the AAP Party, also met Arvind Kejriwal at his residence on 16th September (Monday) to discuss Kejriwal’s replacement. Arvind Kejriwal, the CM of Delhi, on 15th September, announced that he would resign from his position within 2 days. Oppositions are calling it a PR stunt played by Kejriwal to cover his misdeeds and mend his image.
The meeting lasts for an hour and the same topic will be discussed in AAP’s PAC (Political Affair Meeting) meeting in the evening. Kejriwal was released on bail granted by the Supreme Court in the Liquor Policy Case from Tihar Jail on 13th September (Friday). He stated:
"I am going to resign from the Chief Minister's position after two days. I will not sit in the Chief Minister's chair until the people give their verdict... I will go to every house and street and not sit in the Chief Minister's chair till I get a verdict from the people."
How did other Leaders React?
Manish Sisodia also stated in his Hindi post on X:
"I worked honestly, but attempts were made to prove me dishonest by making false allegations against me under petty politics. I was kept in jail for 17 months on false charges. After two years of legal process, now even the country's top court has told me to go and do my work. But I will not sit in the chair of Deputy Chief Minister-Education Minister right now. I did not come into politics here for the greed of chairs and posts. I have come to work honestly on education. I have also decided that I will go to public court along with Arvind Kejriwal and ask whether the public considers me honest or not. Elections are to be held in three-four months. Only if the public approves my honesty, I will sit in the chair of Deputy Chief Minister-Education Minister and work for education. Jai Hind."
On Sisodia being Kejriwal’s replacement, the latter said:
"I spoke to Manish, he too has said that he will handle the post only after the people say we are honest. The fate of Sisodia and I is now in your hands.”
Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal will reportedly leave the CM House within 15 days after his resignation. This decision was taken by Kejriwal after a closed-door meeting of AAP senior members.
Manoj Tiwari, a BJP MP also stated:
"In the history of India, you will not find any chief minister who has been removed from his post by the court. There is a rule of law and constitution in the nation. The Constitution says that if a CM goes to jail, he should resign so that someone else form his party can take over as the CM."
