Previously, the number of IPL teams that were interested in bids of Women’s IPL teams was 5. Now 8 out of the 10 men’s IPL franchisees are interested in bidding for Women’s IPL in 2023.
It is a gesture from the IPL Men’s team to appreciate the Women’s IPL teams and boost their enthusiasm.
The Latest update on Bids of WIPL
The 8 teams of IPL Men’s Cricket will compete in the process of purchasing teams in the IPL for women. The BCCI is supposed to reveal the unopened bids, the franchises, and the winning cities that will feature in the Women’s IPL, on January 25th, 2023.
The list of IPL Men’s cricket teams that are going to make bids on the Women’s IPL team are:
Gujarat Titans(the IPL’s defending champion), Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings.
The two teams, Lucknow SUperGiants and Royal Challengers Bangalore have not confirmed if they are later going to join the 8 teams in bidding for WIPL or not.
This bidding is scheduled by the beginning of March. Although the BCCI has not confirmed the dates, the inaugural season may start on March 5th, 2023 and is expected to end by March 23rd, 2023.
Details Related to the Bid on Women’s IPL 2023
With 10 Indian cities and the venues indicated in the offer by the BCCI, one organization is able to submit a proposal for many different locations.No fixed base price will be used; offers will be considered over a ten-year period (2023-2032).
On Jan 3rd, BCCI made the tender document available for purchasing. This was purchased by a number of organizations other than the IPL Clubs.
The Jan 13th is the deadline to submit the queries from interested bidder and technical bids for the consideration by the BCCI & Law firm Argus partners(Mumbai Based) by Jan 23rd, 2023.
The requirement to qualify the list of tender document
The BCCI has decided a few limits to enter the list of tender documents for the Bidder, like, the Bidder’s audit net worth should be at least 1000 Crores till March 31st of 2022, and Joint ventures and Companies involved in Consortium are not eligible for bid.
The BCCI listed the goals and said:
“establishing a stable, successful, financially secure, long-term franchise to participate in the league; ensuring the widest coverage and the widest possible audience for the league; assisting in the development of the game of women’s cricket in India at all levels; maximizing and enhancing exposure for women’s cricket in India both within and the rest of the world.”
