Who is the New Instamart CEO in 2024?
Swiggy announced that Amitesh Jha will be appointed as the new Chief Executive officer of the Instamart business in 2024. In this same announcement Email, Sriharsha Majety, Swiggy’s Co-founder, stated that Phani Kishan Addepalli, the current Instamart Head, will take on a broader role in the company.
Swiggy’s Co-Founder’s Mail to the Employees
Sriharsha Majety, co-founder of Swiggy, updated the employees in an Email on 29th August that Veteran Amitesh Jha, former Senior Vice President at Flipkart, will take the position of Instamart CEO in the middle of the growing competition in the commerce space. Amitesh has a successful track record of more than 14 Years. On the other hand, in just 1.5 years, Swiggy Instamart has had 3 heads including Amitesh Jha.
In this same mail, Srihasha also stated that Phani Kishan Addepalli is all set to take on another great role in the company. Srihasha stated:
“Phani will continue to be part of the M-team and will work closely with me on a new and timely challenge. He will be managing our Central Growth unit helping us unlock the next paradigm across our initiatives like the Swiggy One program amongst others. In addition to this, he will also be partnering with me closely as my Chief of Staff, again. I'm incredibly excited to have him contribute in this new capacity.”
He further added in the Email:
"As we prepare for the next wave of scale, we have lately been bringing on some accomplished leaders ( Sairam, Himavant, and Mayank to name a few who bring a strong entrepreneurial mindset and relevant industry experience. I am now delighted to welcome Amitesh Sha as the new CEO of Swiggy Instamart. Amitesh joins from Flipkart with an outstanding track record through the 14 years he's worked there."
Why is the Company Making the Developments?
The requirement for the development occurred when fast commerce wars were heightened. Zomato’s BlinkIt is presently leading the market with a market share of 40-45%, whereas, Swiggy Instamart is at the second spot with around 20-25% share. Other companies like Zepto, which has a market share of 15-20% are also in the competition.
Other giants like Tata’s BB Now, Flipkart Minutes, and Ola Consumer are trying their best to capitalize on the Quick Commerce Boom.
