Who is Gautam Gambhir?

Gautam Gambhir, born on 14th October 1981, is an Indian former Cricketer, Philanthropist, and former Politician. He currently took the position of the Head Coach in the National Indian Cricket Team and replaced Rahul Dravid.

When Was Gautam Gambhir Appointed as Head Coach?

As the Head Coach, Gambhir will serve the Indian cricket squad for all three formats (Test, ODI & T20) from July 2024 to December 2027. He is responsible for taking charge of the upcoming series against Sri Lanka in which the Indian team will play 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs from 27th July 2024 onwards.

The BCCI expressed gratitude towards Rahul Dravid for his excellent service as a Head Coach. He nurtured new talents. Under his guidance, the team won:

  • ICC T20 Men’s World Cup 2024 - India Won the Trophy.
  • ICC 50-Over World Cup 2023 - India Ended as the Runner-Up. 
  • ICC World Test Championship in 2023 - India Ended as the Runner-Up. 

The BCCI gave their best regards and congratulated Paras Mhambrey (Bowling Coach), T. Dilip (Fielding Coach), and Vikram Rathour (Batting Coach) for a highly successful tenure.

Gautam Gambhir, the new Head Coach of the Indian Cricket team, stated:
