Ravindra Jadeja’s Retirement from the T20I World Cup

Ravindra Jadeja is the finest Indian all-rounder of the national team. He played international matches for the Indian team in different formats. He recently announced his retirement from the T20I format on 29th June 2024 after the game against South Africa. He debuted in the T20I format on 10 February 2009 in a match against Sri Lanka.

Ravindra Jadeja has played 74 T20I matches throughout his career and scored a total of 515 runs. His average was 21.45 with a strike rate of 127.16. He is one of the finest fielder of the National cricket team in India. 

Ravindra Jadeja’s Retirement Announcement

Ravindra Jadeja, the star all-rounder, after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, announced his retirement from all T20I formats. He shared an Instagram post to declare this news of retirement in which he stated:

“With a heart full of gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 internationals. Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I’ve always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats," 

He added:

"Winning the T20I World Cup was a dream come true, a pinnacle of my T20 International career. Thank you for the memories, the cheers, and the unwavering support." 

Like Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja also declared that he will continue playing for other formats - Test and ODIs, but will not continue in this shortest cricket tournament format T20I.

Together with Ravindra Jadeja, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also took retirement from the T20I format. These retirements were predicted by fans as each of the players taking retirement played for more than a decade and represented the nation in the international cricket formats.

As the team won the ICC T20I Men’s World Cup 2024 final match against South Africa, it was the right time for all three of them to retire from the T20I format.
