The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has updated a fresh initiative to reward the brilliant performers of domestic cricket. This progress was approved by Jay Shah, BCCI secretary, is aiming to motivate the young talents at the basic level. The BCCI believes that such cash rewards may inspire the players to perform amazingly in domestic events.

BCCI Introduction to Prize Money for Domestic Cricket Top Performers 2024-25

BCCI has introduced cash rewards for the player of the tournament and player of the match in all women’s and junior cricket events at the domestic level. Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, announced this prize money on 26th, August (Monday). He also stated that the players of the match Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali T20s will be awarded Prize Money.

On X Platform, Shah mentioned:

"We are introducing prize money for the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament in all Women's and Junior Cricket tournaments under our Domestic Cricket Programme," 

He further added:

"Additionally, prize money will be awarded for the Player of the Match in the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments for Senior Men. This initiative aims to recognize and reward outstanding performances in the domestic circuit."

Last Year in April 2023, BCCI announced the rise in the prize money for the domestic events. The Ranji Trophy winners received a monetary of INR 5 Crores and the runner-ups & teams unable to reach the semi-finals received INR 3 Crores and INR 1 Crore, respectively, after this announcement last year. 

  • The Irani Cup cash prize had been doubled with the winners of this event getting INR 50 Lakhs which is twice the amount of the old prize money which was INR 25 lakhs
  • The Duleep Cup winners also received INR 1 Crore & the Vijay Hazare Trophy champions received INR 1 Crore
  • The Senior Women’s One Day Trophy Winners and runner-ups also received INR 50 Lakhs and INR 25 Lakhs, respectively.
