• CSK and RCB's triumphs on 12th May (Sunday) have made it more difficult for Lucknow SuperGiants. LSG faces a hard challenge even if they win their next two matches, as they have the lowest NRR among playoff contenders at -0.769. 
• RCB's turnaround with five consecutive wins places them in contention for a playoff spot, and their last league game against CSK serves as the crucial match.
• CSK's victory over RR puts them in contention for a playoff position in the upcoming match against RCB.

IPL 2024 Eliminated Teams

CSK and RCB Playoff Scenario

CSK and RCB both won their last matches against RR and DC, respectively. While Chennai won against Rajasthan with 5 wickets, Bangalore won against Delhi Capitals with 47 runs.

CSK Playoff Scenario 2024

CSK is currently at the third position in the points table after playing 13 matches and winning 7 of them with 14 points.

• CSK's victory over RR ensures they may challenge for a playoff position in their final league game against RCB in Bengaluru. 
• Because of RCB's position in the table, this match will be a virtual knockout. If CSK wins, they will advance to 16 points, eliminating RCB, but they will still be unable to secure a playoff spot. 
• RR can go out of CSK’s reach with two wins, and so can SRH. LSG can draw level on points with CSK, and if LSG wins large, Net Run Rate might decide the final slot.
• LSG's Net Run Rate is quite low at the moment, and it is unlikely that they would be able to beat CSK even if they win handsomely in their last two games.

• As a result, a win over RCB will very certainly secure CSK's playoff position.

In that instance, CSK must ensure that they do not lose by more than 18 runs (if RCB scores 200) to maintain their lead over RCB's NRR despite the defeat.

RCB Playoff Scenario 2024

RCB is currently at the fifth position in the points table after playing 13 matches and winning 6 of them with 12 points.

With their fifth straight win, RCB is making a late push for a playoff spot, and it all comes down to their last league game against CSK, who is also competing for a postseason spot. 

A loss will end the RCB season, while a win will keep them in contention for the playoffs. To gain their NRR over CSK's, RCB would need to beat them by more than 18 runs (assuming they score 200). 

SRH and LSG could still outperform RCB, but by the time RCB faces CSK on Saturday, LSG will have played both of their games.

If SRH and LSG lose their remaining games by no more than 14 points, and RCB beat CSK by the same margin, both RCB and CSK can advance to the top four.
