IPL 2024 Auction 

The IPL 2024 auction occurred on 19th December, 2023 (Tuesday) in Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena. This multi-purpose arena is located in the City Walk neighborhood of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This auction was broadcasted by the JioCinema app.

This happened for the first time that the auction for this tournament took place out of India. 

The auction featured 333 players in total, including 214 from India and 119 from other countries. During the season, the 10 teams of the Indian Premier League competed in a round-robin style, with each team playing against the other nine teams both at home and away. In the finals, the top four teams will compete in the play-offs.

Indian Premier League 2024 Host

The IPL 2024 season was hosted by Mallika Sagar, and for the first time, the host of this event was a female. She has also hosted the auctions for PKL (Pro Kabaddi League) and WPL (Women’s Premier League).

When did the Tata IPL 2024 start?

The TATA IPL 2024 started on 22nd March, 2024. This 17th season sponsored by TATA is organized by the BCCI (Board of Council for Cricket in India). The first match took place on this date between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Harshal Patel, the Indian All-Rounder, was bought by the Punjab Kings franchise for INR 11,75,00,000.

Daryl Mitchell IPL

Daryl Mitchell, the New Zealand’s All-Rounder, was bought by the Chennai Super Kings franchise for INR 14,00,00,000.

Pat Cummins IPL

Pat Cummins, the Australian All-Rounder, was bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise for INR 20,00,00,000.

Mitchell Starc IPL 2024 

Mitchell Starc, the Australian Bowler, was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise for INR 24,75,00,000. He became the most expensive player of the IPL 2024 season.

Conclusion

This is the first time in IPL history that a player's bid has exceeded 20 crore. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins are the sole two players in the prestigious 20 crore club. This is the highest bid ever placed by a player.
