Karnataka Assures Group 'A' Jobs For Olympics, Paralympics Winners

Job Vacancies for Olympics & Paralympics winners
- Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday declared that the cabinet will grant the approval for the straight recruitment of sportspersons for Government jobs in the state.
- This recruitment will be done on the basis of sports and the selection committee headed by the additional chief secretary of the department of sports. The Group ‘A’ jobs are offered to the degree holders of Olympics and Paralympics winners.
- While speaking at an event held in Bengaluru to issue Ekalavya and other awards of sports, he ensured that the Group ‘B’ jobs for the winners of Commonwealth and Asian games.
- Those who have bagged medals in other sporting events are added in the group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’ jobs, as per the words of the chief minister.
- In the year 2022, Bommai shared on August 15th, that 75 athletes have been adopted for training for the next Olympics in Paris, France, 2024. He said that
- “They will be given training for four years from good coaches apart from providing facilities to continue studies,”
- The government has spent an amount of 10 lakhs per athlete and is planning to invest more funds with time, the chief minister further added.
The CM shared that they are planning to bring in the youth policy that will benefit in the growth of Youth empowerment and sports. He also declared that the two percent of the positions in the Home Department are reserved for the sportspersons.
Basavaraj Bommai said:
"Both the State and the Central governments have given importance to it. Sports will develop as a hobby and then it will be considered as a symbol of nationalism. Any nation is identified based on its performance in sports. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated several steps to bring sports to the national mainstream. In the name of 'Khelo India', 'Fit India' and 'Jeto India', a lot of awareness is being created about the sport. This helped the country to win more medals in the previous Olympics. India has also shown a good performance in the Paralympics,"
He further added:
"The urge to win is a must in sports and none must play to lose. A positive frame of mind will help them to win any game. Two per cent of posts are reserved for the sportspersons in the Home Department. There are a number of leaders and administrators to give priority to sports and this will help in implementing such policies,"
Shalini Rajneesh (Additional Chief Secretary (Department of Sports and Youth Empowerment)), Govindaraju ( Karnataka Olympic Association President), C Narayanagowda (Youth Empowerment & Sports Minister), Rizwan Arshad (MLA), and others were present during this announcement.
Final Remarks
At the start of the year 2023, Basavaraj Bommai announced that a proposal of reservation of 2 percent seats for sportspeople in all of the governmental departments is going to be cleared on a priority basis.
