Sunil Shetty Aka Anna Talks About Boycott Bollywood Trend

Sunil Shetty, the famous Anna of Bollywood industry, met Yogi Adityanath, the CM of Uttar Pradesh, in the recent past  in Mumbai. Anna asked him for help in eliminating anti-Bollywood sentiments and boycott trends. Anna also asked him to share this matter with PM Narendra Modi.

How did the Boycott Bollywood Trend Initiate?

This Campaign, Boycott Bollywood, started initially because of the nepotism in the bollywood industry, and the stories of the movies promoting wrong details of the true event and promoting women objectification in the movies by the makers.

Especially after the movies like Chhapaak, Sadak 2, 83, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Samrat Prithvi Raj Chauhan, Chandigarh Kare Ashiqi Shamshera and Laal Singh Chaddha, this event took a larger scale. On the other hand South Indian Movies like RRR, VIkram and KGF attracted the Indian audience to the south industry, which they find more connecting and entertaining than Bollywood.

As per Sunil Shetty, this topic related to the film industry has taken this industry towards its ‘worse phase’. He also said that the audience might not find him correct for what he is doing and can call him a flop actor of this industry.

How did Anna meet Yogi?

Cm Yogi had a short stay in Mumbai during which he met a few celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty in the Taj Hotel. In this meeting Anna confirmed to Yogi ji that the Bollywood industry does no wrong work and not all do drugs. He requested Yogi ji to help bollywood to gain its reputation back. 

 Sunil Shetty told Bombay Times:

“All I asked for (at the event) was some help for our film industry because we probably are at the worst stage that we have ever been in. I asked for help to revive the industry and get our respect back. One rotten apple doesn’t mean that the entire tree is rotten. I didn’t ask for anything else.”

He added:

“If I do something wrong, if I project myself wrongly, then hang and ban me, but don’t ban my industry because there are 1000s of workers. I keep praying and wishing that our golden days come back. I just said help the industry stand on its feet. Wherever I go, that is the only thing I ask for, whether it is my friends from the media or others. Yogi ji is someone who wants to meet the industry and listen to us. We are on the back foot right now and someone needs to come forward. I know I will get a lot of gaali from people who want to boycott Bollywood. They will abuse me and say, ‘Yeh toh flop actor hai, etc.’ Par woh sab mujhe chalega (People might call me a flop actor but that’s okay).” 

Opinions about this Boycott Bollywood Trend

Although this trend is only against bollywood, it is also attacking the rights and liberties of expression. 

 Anna began by saying: 

 “I want to talk about this hashtag that’s going on— “Boycott Bollywood”. It can stop if you say something about it. We are doing good work. It pains me to see this stigma. 99% of the people here are good.”

“So, please, Yogi ji, take the lead and talk to our prime minister about erasing this stigma. We have to join hands and try to get rid of the ‘Boycott Bollywood’ trend and make people understand that most people in the industry are good. We don’t take drugs—daily, and all the people, we don’t harm others,” he further requested.

Anna also shared :

“I request that you be the person to abolish the stigma. This industry is responsible for connecting India to the world, especially when it comes to music. You’re a very big name, sir. If you talk about it, people will listen.”

99% of peoples are good in bollywood

Mr. Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, is in Mumbai, and Bollywood personalities are on his agenda. Suniel Shetty, who was in attendance at a meeting yesterday, spoke out against the "boycott Bollywood" trend and all the pessimism on social media.
