Most simply, a solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Sun and the Earth while revolving around the earth. This leads to the hiding of the Sun either from a small part of the Earth, completely or partially.

Surya Grahan in April 2023 : Time and date

The Solar Eclipse of April was the first one for 2023. This solar eclipse took place on April 20th, 2023, Thursday. According to the astrologers, this solar eclipse occurred in the Aries and Ashwini Nakshatra. 

The starting time for this solar eclipse was 07:04 Am in the morning and it ended by 12:29 Pm in the afternoon.

More specifically it was a Hybrid  Solar Eclipse, which is a rare type of solar eclipse that its appearance shifts from annular to total and back again, as the Moon's shadow travels across the planet's surface.

• In totality, it occurred in a limited path across the Earth's surface, leaving a portion of the eclipse observed over a zone that is several kilometers wide.
• Hybrid solar eclipses are incredibly unusual, making up only 3.1% of all solar eclipses in the twenty-first century.

This Solar Eclipse was not visible in India and only parts of SouthEast Asia and Australia witnessed this Rare Hybrid Solar Eclipse. 

A ‘Ring of Fire’ was viewable for some seconds in the Indian and the Pacific Oceans.

Surya Grahan in October 2023 : Time and date

The Solar Eclipse of October is going to be the second one for 2023. This solar eclipse will take place on October 14th, 2023, Saturday. The starting time for this solar eclipse was 07:04 Am in the morning and it ended by 12:29 Pm in the afternoon.The effect of this eclipse can be seen on Cancer, Libra, Capricorn and Aries Zodiac Signs.

More precisely it is going to be an Annular Solar Eclipse which occurs when the Moon crosses between the star Sun and the planet Earth, but only if it is close to its greater distance from the Earth. Because the Moon is more distant from Earth, it looks smaller and isn't entirely covered by the Sun.

• The first Solar Eclipse is not going to be visible in India and thus there is no straight effect of this eclipse will be seen.
• The second Solar Eclipse is going to be visible in India and it may affect the Zodiac Signs as per astrology.

What is Lunar Eclipse (Chandra Grahan)?

A lunar eclipse is an astrological occurrence that occurs when the Moon passes into the Earth's shade, becoming darker. This alignment happens approximately every six months during eclipse season, during the full moon's phase, when the Moon's orbit line is nearest to the plane that defines the Earth's orbit.

Chandra Grahan in May 2023 : Time and date

After the April Solar Eclipse, the first Lunar Eclipse will occur in the month of May. The date presumed for this first Lunar eclipse is May 5th & 6th, Friday & Saturday, respectively. 

The tentative timing for this eclipse is:

Beginning at 08:44 Pm in the evening as per IST(Indian Standard Time).

End at 01:01 Am on May 6th at night. 

Duration of this Lunar Eclipse is going to be four hours and 18 minutes.

More Precisely, it is going to be the penumbral eclipse, in which the shadow of the moon is divided into two parts: the umbra, where the Sun is fully hidden, and the penumbra, where the Sun is partially hidden. 

• Individuals in the umbra are going to witness a total eclipse.
• Individuals living in the penumbra will see an eclipse that is partial. 

 This Lunar eclipse is expected to be visible in India if the sky is going to be clear.

Chandra Grahan in October 2023 : Time and date

After the May Lunar Eclipse, the second Lunar Eclipse will occur in the month of October. The date presumed for this first Lunar eclipse is October 29th, Sunday. 

The tentative timing for this eclipse is:

Beginning at 01:06 Am in the night as per IST(Indian Standard Time).

End at 02:22 Am on May 6th at night.
