Government Announces Prize Money to Paris Paralympics Medalists

The Indian government announced a huge prize money for the Paris Paralympics Medalists. The last batch of the Indian winners in this event returned to the nation on the 10th of September (Tuesday). They were complemented by Dr.Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers and Health & Family Welfare, at an event.

Paris Paralympics Medalists: Prize Money Announced by Indian Government 2024

From the Paris Paralympics 2024, Indian players have brought 41 medals including 10 Gold, 10 Silver, and 21 Bronze under various categories. The Indian government announced a huge prize money for the Paris Paralympics Medalists when the final group of the winners returned to the nation on the 10th of September (Tuesday). 

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers and Health & Family Welfare, announced real-cash prizes for the medalists and ensured amazing support for them to prepare well for the next 2028  Paralympic Games. He stated during an event:

“The country is rising in Paralympics and para sports. From 4 medals in 2016, India has won 19 medals in Tokyo and 29 in Paris, with an 18th place finish.” 

He further added:

“We will provide all the facilities to all of our para-athletes so that we can win more medals and gold medals in the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics.”

He announced that the gold medalists would get INR 75 lakh prize money, the silver medallists would get INR 50 Lakh prize money, and the bronze medal winners would get INR 30 lakh prize money each. The Paralympic players who performed in the mixed team games like Sheetal Devi, an archer, will get INR 22.5 Lakh Prize money.

In the Paris Paralympics 2024, when the Indian players collected 20 medals they broke the record of 19 medals won in the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020.
