Apple's Latest Smartphones to Debut in India with Reduced Prices 2024

The Apple company has decided to reduce the official prices of the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models in India. A huge impact of this action can be observed in the Premium Smartphone marketplace. 

The prices of the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are kept the same as the price of last year’s iPhone versions. The iPhone 16 Pro (Initially priced at INR 1,19,900) and iPhone 16 Pro Max (Initially priced at INR 1,44,900) have observed a significant decline of INR 15,000 in Price. This action is taken to improve sales and keep Apple’s position in the Premium smartphone market, especially, just before the festive season start in India. 

Factors Behind the Price Decline

The experts in a similar industry counted on several factors behind this price decline of the latest Apple smartphone versions. 

Navkendar Singh, the Technology Industry Analyst at IDC (International Data Corporation), believes that the recent reduction in customs duties on imported Phones by the government is an important aspect to consider for the price decline. He mentioned:

“The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max prices have dropped significantly due to the lowered custom duty, and with the expectation that these models will soon be manufactured locally in India.”

Price Decline: Strategic Action by Apple

The Price reduction is believed to be a strategic action that is expected to widen the demand for the iPhone Pro versions and the shifting of the balance of sales in the nation. As per Navkendar,  the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus versions will account the 75% of iPhone sales, and the Pro models will contribute 40% of iPhone sales.

Tarun Pathak, the Research director at Counterpoint Research, highlights the factor of local production of Pro versions of the iPhone. He mentioned:

“Apple is passing some benefits to consumers since Pro versions are now being produced locally,” 

He further added:

“Around 6 out of 10 users in the premium segment buy smartphones through financing schemes.”

Prabhu Ram, the VP of the Industry Research Group at CyberMedia Research, mentioned:

“The iPhone 16 Pro series comes with more accessible pricing compared to the previous generation, which is expected to drive upgrades.” 

With the Indian festive season around the corner, Apple iPhones, both Basic and Pro versions are expected to be in high demand in 2024.
