The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has recently taken the decision to ban one of its monks, Amogh Lila Prabhu, due to his controversial remarks regarding Hindu monk and philosopher Swami Vivekananda and his mentor, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.

Reason Of Banning Monk name Amogh Lila Das 

Monk Amogh Lila Das found himself embroiled in a significant controversy as a result of his contentious remarks concerning Swami Vivekananda and Ramakrishna Paramahansa. 

 

  • In a widely circulated video clip, he voiced criticism towards Swami Vivekananda, citing his consumption of fish and suggesting that a truly virtuous individual would refrain from causing harm to any living being. 

 

Furthermore, Monk Among Lila Das made sarcastic remarks regarding Ramakrishna's teachings of "Jato Mat Tato Path" (wherein diverse opinions lead to various paths), insinuating that not all paths ultimately converge at the same destination. These comments swiftly ignited a firestorm of controversy across social media platforms.

What Is the Statement of ISKON On this Activity of Monk Amogh Lila Das

 

ISKCON issued a formal statement expressing their disapproval of Mr. Das' remarks, emphasizing that his views do not align with the organization's values and teachings. The statement unequivocally condemned any form of disrespect or intolerance towards different religious beliefs and practices.

 

ISKCON further noted that the derogatory nature of  Amogh Lila Das' comments indicates a lack of awareness regarding the diversity of spiritual paths and individual choices. Considering the gravity of his error, ISKCON has decided to impose a one-month ban on Mr. Das. The organization has informed him of this decision.

 

  • The statement highlighted that Monk Amogh Lila Das has expressed remorse for his comments and has recognized the extent of the harm caused by his words. He has taken the vow of "prayaschit" (atonement) for one month and will immediately retreat to the hills of Govardhan, where he will seclude himself from public life.

Who is Monk Among Lila Das 

Amogh Lila Das, currently holding the position of Vice President of the Dwarka chapter of ISKCON, is a spiritual-motivational speaker and social worker. 

 

Born as Ashish Arora in a Punjabi family in Lucknow, he is 43 years old and possesses a degree in software engineering. Despite his professional background, Amogh Lila Das experienced a profound connection to spirituality from an early age, with a particular affinity for the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, which he diligently studied during his school years.

After a successful career in software engineering, Amogh Lila Das made a transformative decision to fully commit himself to the path of spirituality. 

He voluntarily relinquished his full-time job and sought spiritual training at the ISKCON center in Dwarka. During this transformative period, he embraced celibacy and dedicated himself to rigorous spiritual practice and selfless service.
