ISRO Injects Chandrayaan-3 into Translators: A Revolutionary Step Forward

ISRO takes a huge leap forward with the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3! Find out how this revolutionary step is paving the way for a new era in space exploration

ISRO Injects Chandrayaan-3 into Translators: A Revolutionary Step Forward

The Greatest news for ISRO as well as all Indians today, Chandrayaan-3 leaves earth's orbit & its next stop is moon. We have covered the complete detail about this great success of Indians.

Read the article till the end and know more about this glory of Indian History in the field of Science.

ISRO Chandrayaan 3 Update

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) reports that Chandrayaan-3, an Indian spacecraft, has successfully been placed into its translunar orbit and is now traveling towards the Moon.

  • What's expected on August 5th, 2023?

A soft landing on the surface of the Moon will be attempted on August 23, 2023, the day before the Lunar-Orbit Insertion.

  • What is Translunar Orbit Injection?

The moon-bound spacecraft has left its orbit around the earth and is currently traveling along a course that will get it close to the Moon. This process is known as a translunar orbit injection.

ISRO Chandrayaan-3 Mission

  • Another lunar project was proposed by ISRO after Chandrayaan-2's failed attempt at a soft landing following an efficient orbital entry due to a last-minute software error impacting the soft landing guidance software.
  • This year's mission was Chandrayaan-3, and ISRO is looking forward to the lander's smooth, successful landing in 2023.

ISRO Tweet Chandrayaan-3

The Indian Space Research Organisation reported on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023,  that the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft has finished its orbits of the earth and is now traveling towards the moon after being safely inserted into the translunar orbit.

ISRO Stated in a Tweet:

"Chandrayaan-3 completes its orbits around the earth and heads towards the moon. A successful perigee-firing performed at ISTRAC, ISRO has injected the spacecraft into the translunar orbit,"

They further added:

"Next stop: the Moon. As it arrives at the moon, the Lunar-Orbit Insertion (LOI) is planned for August 5, 2023."

What will happen after the Lander enters the Lunar Surface?

On August 23rd, ISRO announced that it was going to make a gentle landing of the lander on the lunar surface.

  • When the lander achieves lunar orbit, it will become autonomous from the propulsion module. It is planned to soft-land on August 23 at 5:47 p.m. near the Southern Pole of the moon.
  • The lander is intended to make its way to the lunar surface from an altitude of approximately 100 kilometers.
  • Because it necessitates a series of complex maneuvers, including both harsh and precision braking, the soft landing is a difficult challenge.
  • Prior to landing, scanning of the landing site area will be performed to identify safe and hazard-free zones.
  • The six-wheeled rover is going to roll out after the soft landing and conduct tests on the surface of the moon for one lunar(moon) day, which is equivalent to 14 days on Earth.

Chandrayaan 3 Launch Date

  • On July 14, 2023, at 2:35 p.m. IST, Chandrayaan-3 was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre Second Launch Pad in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, India. Effective placement of the spacecraft on the path necessary to reach the moon.
  • The spacecraft is made up of a power module weighing 2,148 kg, a lander weighing 1,723.89 kg, and a rover weighing 26 kg.

OBJECTIVE - The achievement of a lander landing on the moon's surface is the main objective of the mission.

How many nations have landed on the moon?

  • The Soviet Union, the United States, Japan, the European Space Agency, China, India, Luxembourg, Israel, Italy, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates are just a few of the nations and organizations that have sent astronauts to the moon.
  • The last crewed mission to the Moon successfully left the lunar surface in December 1972, making the United States the only country to have done it.

Conclusion

Chandrayaan-3's scientific instruments are designed to look at a variety of lunar surface traits, including the composition of elements near the place where it landed on the Moon and more.
