Why Impact Player Rule Introduced in IPL 2023

For the 16th season of the IPL 2023, multiple new rules have been applied. The most widely recognized of these was the Impact Player Rule, which boosted another level of energy in this new season. • Following the Toss in the match, all squads can pick a maximum of 5 players as replacements along with the Playing XI.

• The principle simply allows each IPL club to bring in an 'impact player', whether bowling or batting.
• When submitting the squad list, the captains are allowed to list five replacement players, among whom is eligible to be used afterward.
• From the moment he starts onto the pitch, the replacement player can bat, bowl or perform one pitch. The "Impact Player" cannot substitute in place of the team's skipper.
• Unless the franchise has a maximum of four international players in its starting XI, the Impact Player can only be an Indian player.
• It must be noted that the 'Impact Player' could indeed enter the game before an inning opens or only after an over finishes.
• When a wicket is lost or a batter opts to quit playing during an over, "Impact Player" can be expressed on the batting side.

• The teams get the option to switch their player at any point of time before the match with the selected substitute player that may contribute something positive in the final result of any specific match for the team.
• The Impact Player Rule basically allows the team to chase the target if they get to bat in the second inning and defend if they get to bowl in the second inning. 
• This rule in IPL played the role of the game changer if the substitute player performs well. Contrarily, if the player opted as a replacement doesn’t play well, the team may lose the match.

• There are no such cons that are observed of this Impact player Rule but it has affected the value of All-Rounder in the team. 
• Previously, the was dependable on the all-rounder of the team and their good or bad performance at time decided the final outcome of any match.
