ICC and FanCraze Partnership 2024
The International Cricket Council (ICC), cricket's worldwide governing body, has expanded its cooperation with FanCraze, an Indian non-fungible token (NFT) platform.
The collaboration, which was first announced in January 2022, has been renewed under a multi-year agreement between the two organizations. This corresponds with the 2024 ICC Men's Twenty20 World Cup, one of its most memorable competitions, which will begin on June 1 (Saturday). The agreement would "rely on the success" of Crictos' digital collectibles, which were introduced two years ago.
Finn Bradshaw, ICC head of digital, mentioned:
"We are delighted to unveil ICC Crictos SuperTeam and offer cricket fans around the world a new and innovative gameplay experience for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024".
He added:
"We are excited to enter the next phase of digital participation, using innovative technology to enhance fan interaction and promote the sport on a global scale. Signing up would allow fans to get closer to the game than ever before and participate in the largest cricket carnival spectacle ever, from anywhere in the world."
Anshum Bhambri, the co-founder and chief executive of FanCraze, added:
“It’s a major milestone for us as we pursue our goal to build a compelling global community for cricket fans. SuperTeam will revolutionize digital sports fandom and build upon FanCraze’s user base across over 100 countries.”
Some recent reports indicated that the ICC's business agreement with Indian tire company MRF will not be extended once it expires later this year.
ICC Partner Members List
The International Cricket Council now has 108 nations that are members, including 12 Full Members who compete in Test matches and 96 Associates.
Full Members - The nations or geographical areas involved with cricket that have representative teams eligible to play official Test matches (12 Members).
Associate Members - The countries or geographical areas affiliated with cricket that do not qualify as Full Members but are well-established and organized (94 Members).
Other than this, ICC also has Premier Partners (Emirates, Aramco, DP World), Global Partners (Coca-Cola and Indusland Bank), and Official supporters (FanCraze).
What does FanCraze do?
- FanCraze is a website that enables users to buy, collect, and display digital collectibles with unique content by getting licenses from people who own intellectual property such as sports federations, athletes, individual creators, and other similar entities.
- FanCraze previously worked with the ICC to create 'ICC Crictos’ digital collectibles and unique background experiences for fans who attended the Men's T20 World Cup in 2022. The recently released fantasy game will allow players to create fantasy teams with their 'ICC Crictos' and fight for daily rewards.
- The collaboration extension between ICC and FanCraze will also see the release of ICC Crictos SuperTeam, a web3 fantasy game that will include those officially licensed items. The game allows players to create fantasy teams and engage in contests for daily prizes and rewards.
