Root was glad over this achievement and stated  "There's no better feeling". He scored his 33rd and 34th century in Test cricket and surpassed Cook during a test match at the Lord’s Cricket Ground (London, England) against Sri Lanka.

Joseph Edward Root, popular as Joe Root, was born on 30th December 1990. He plays for the England team and previously captained the Test Team. Joe Root, a 33-year-old top-order-batter, recently surpassed the record of Alastair Cook, who had the most centuries in the Test Cricket format from England in his record. 

He scored his 33rd and 34th century in Test cricket and surpassed Cook during a test match at the Lord’s Cricket Ground (London, England) against Sri Lanka. Root was glad over this achievement and he stated

With this hundred, he became the player with the most centuries from England in the Test cricket format. Before him, this record was registered in the name of Alastair Cook. Joe Root scored 143 runs in this match’s 1st innings and his team scored 190 runs by the end.

"I just want to play. I just want to play and try and, you know do my bit for the team and score the runs that... But there's no better feeling, I mean, it's obviously amazing when, you know, you score 100 and you know, you'd be lying if you said it wasn't, a big part of why you start playing the game and what you love about it. But there's no feeling better than winning a Test match. So the more it can affect games and the more you can, you know, add to the team the greater it is. And hopefully, more days like this will come with that mentality."

The toss in this match was won by Sri Lanka who opted to ball first. England's side scored 427 runs in the first innings. Joe Root and Gus Atkinson smashed centuries and supported the England side to score huge.
