Read the given news that covers all the information about the Champions Trophy 2025 and where in Dubai will India play their matches.

India’s Matches Scheduled in Dubai for Champions Trophy 2025

Pakistan, the defending squad of Champions Trophy 2025, will host the Champions Trophy tournament next year. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has requested ICC to schedule the matches for India in the Champions Trophy 2025 in some other nation.

Dubai is most likely to be selected by the ICC for Indian Matches and the venue would be Dubai International Stadium. India and Pakistan only face each other in the International tournaments such as Asia Cup, T20 World Cup, and ICC Cricket World Cup. Team India has not visited Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup.

Where Will India Play the Champions Trophy 2025 Matches?

The 9th edition of Champions Trophy will be played in 2025. It is expected to start on 19th February and conclude on 9th March this year. The big question that was in talks was - Will India play their Champions Trophy 2025 matches in Pakistan? - has now found an answer.

History of the News

Reports stated that on the 3rd of July, the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) issued its schedule for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and scheduled the India vs Pakistan match for the 1st of March next year at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. On this, as the BCCI source shared:

India will not travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025. We will ask the ICC to hold our matches in Dubai or Sri Lanka.”

Rajeev Shukla, the BCCI Vice-President, also mentioned:

“In the case of the Champions Trophy, we will do whatever the Government of India tells us to do. We send our team only when the Government of India permits us.”

Current Update

Many proposals were given to get the solution over the venue for India’s matches in Champions Trophy 2025. Such a proposal involves splitting the matches between Karachi and Dubai to reduce the traveling inconveniences. The Rawalpindi and Lahore stadiums are still in consideration.

In 2023, BCCI mentioned the reason for government restrictions for not sending the team to Pakistan. The 2023 Asia Cup was then co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This model can be repeated to ensure the security of all the participants in the Champions Trophy 2025.

What will happen if the Hybrid Model is accepted for India’s Matches in Champions Trophy 2025?

If the Hybrid model is accepted by the ICC for India’s matches in the Champions Trophy 2025, India will play in some other selected nation. It is also possible that for one of the semi-final matches and the final match, the venue may be changed from Pakistan to some other nation. This will also make it a little complex for the tournament arrangement.

What was the Asia Cup 2023 Scenario in the Hybrid Model?

The Asia Cup 2023 was primarily scheduled to be held in Pakistan. The PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) back then adopted a Hybrid model to host the matches for India. The Indian team played all their scheduled matches in Sri Lanka for this event. The Indian team later confirmed that the government didn’t allow them to visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023.

If the Champions Trophy 2025 will move entirely or partly to any other nation (Most Probably Dubai), it would follow this same Asia Cup Scenario.

Conclusion

The chances for India’s matches to be hosted in Dubai are higher but still, BCCI hasn’t given any such written confirmation to the PCB. Stay connected to get updated with this news. If you liked the details, don’t forget to bookmark our site.
